One person has been confirmed dead and scores reported to have suffered various degrees of injuries following renewed chieftaincy clashes at Bole in the Northern Region.
A number of houses have been burned while cars have also been vandalised according to our local sources .
The immediate cause of the violence as been attributed to a planned enskinment of a new Bolewura.
According to reports Chief Kant who is Mandariwura is preparing to be enskinned as Bolewura now. According to his supporters, the final funeral of the late Bolewura Pontonpron is over. But Chief Bukari’s faction, on the other hand, says Bole has a Chief in the person of Abutu Bukari and so no duplicity of enskinment will come off in Bole.
The District Security Committee (DISEC) has deployed security personnel to restore calm and has also called for reinforcement from the Regional Police headquarters in Tamale to contain the situation.
