Former President John Dramanai Mahama has asked why the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is feet-dragging on its promise of one million dollars for each constituency almost two years in office.
He observed that the happenings on the ground in respect of that promise is in variance with what was promised Ghanaians by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party in the heat of the 2016 elections.
Addressing party supporters as part of his tour of some regions covered by MyNewsGh.com, the former president wondered why nothing of the promised amount was heard the whole of 2017 and with few months to the end of the current year, the story still remains unchanged.
“One million dollars for every constituency for the year. Na sika no wohe? They called the Minister to Parliament and he said 2017 has expired. Until NPP came to power I never knew money had expiring date. If in 2017 the million dollars has expired then 2018 the expiring date is 31st December 2018….it means that we have two months for 2018 to expire”, he mocked
The conduct of the NPP he stressed is making Ghanaians lose confidence in the democracy of the country warning that it is very dangerous and a recipe for chaos.
“When you do that you hurt the trust and confidence the people have in the democratic system because people believe is a waste of time voting. Politicians will come and make sweet promises but they don’t they don’t intend to fulfill them…and it becomes a danger because if our people lose faith in the democratic system then that is where you have this kind of disturbances and things like that…and so let us principled politicians, let us tell the people exactly what we can do for them…and the people understand because they know it is a growing economy. As the economy gets better their lives get better”, he revealed.
