The Managing Director of State Housing Company, Nana Appiah Ampofo has announced that majority of the affordable houses built across the country are ready and are available to be sold and rented out.
Nana Appiah Ampofo in an interview on Thursday indicated that, as part of President Akufo-Addo’s vision to improve housing in Ghana and drastically reduce the housing deficit in the country, plans have been implemented to build affordable houses across Ghana. This vision has led to the completion of most of these affordable houses which are ready to be rented or sold out although some are still at various levels of completion.
The MD of the State Housing Company explained that, “State Housing Company has started building houses and Estates. When you go to Tamale, Northen Region, houses of STC are available for persons who wants to buy a house there. Some of the affordable houses are available in Sunyani. With Kumasi, the John Agyekum Kuffour estate was started last year, by God’s grace some of the houses are ready for people who want to purchase some. In Accra also, there are some at Adenta. We have apartments and four bedrooms ready. Cape Coast also we have some of the beautiful houses built there. If you are from the area and you want to stay there, we have rooms that are available.”
He was quick to add that, for the Eastern part of Ghana, Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has promised to release a vast land to the company for the projects to be replicated there. The MD noted that they are going to advantage of this opportunity to extend the affordable housing projects to the Eastern Region of Ghana as part of their efforts to improve the living and housing conditions for the people of Ghana.
Nana Appiah Ampofo further indicated that people who are interested in purchasing some of these houses to either phone them or visit any of their offices. They will be informed where some of the houses are available and how flexible the payment plans are. He further disclosed that through the initiative of President Akufo-Addo, the company has reached an agreement with the Republic Bank where the bank can help interested individuals to buy a house from the company and pay back the loan on flexible terms.
“Interested people should call us or come to our office. When you come, you will be informed about the various locations of the houses. More importantly, if you do not have money to buy it, through the vision of the President we have reached an agreement with Republic Bank where they can help you with a loan to buy any of the houses. You can be given between 15 to 20 years to pay back the loan at a very low interest rate”, the MD explained.
