Consul General of Ghana’s Consulate in New York, Professor Samuel Amoako, has admonished Ghanaians living abroad to support the country’s developmental agenda.
This could mean taking the decision to resettle in Ghana and establish their own businesses no matter how small, rather than depending on government for a job, he said.
Prof. Amoako made the call Sunday, June 9, when he joined worshipers at the Abundant Life Baptist Church in the Bronx, New York.
The visit is part of the Roadshow by the Ghana Mission and Consulate General in New York, for the upcoming Diaspora Celebration and Homecoming Summit.
The second edition of the Ghana Diaspora Homecoming Summit will take place from July 3-6, in Accra.
The summit is in fulfillment of President Akufo-Addo’s continuous commitment to establish a foundation for a productive and mutually beneficial relationship between the government and Ghanaians overseas.
This year’s event is on the theme is “Recognising the potential of Ghanaians Diaspora”.
“At this summit, you will get the chance to network with others from other countries, who share your vision and goals,” the Consul General told the audience.
“At the summit, all sectors of the economy will be represented to interact with participants”, Professor Amoako revealed.
