The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Zongo Development and the Youth Employment Agency, has paid 2,803 Arabic tutors across the country.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, while campaigning for 2016 elections, assured Arabic tutors that an NPP government will restore the allowances which had been cancelled by President John Mahama with the excuse that “there is no money.”
Speaking to Muslims at the National Nasara Conference held in January 2016 at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, the then running mate recounted how, under the presidency of John Agyekum Kufuor, monthly allowances for Arabic tutors were paid.
The restoration of the Arabic Tutors Allowance is to help promote the study of the Arabic language across the country.
