The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to receive ‘The Pillar of Peace Award’ during the maiden ‘African Premier Leadership Awards’ Ceremony, scheduled for Kumasi on December 29, 2019.

The 16th Asante Monarch would pick the enviable award on the day, following his crucial roles in helping to restore total peace in the Dagbon kingdom after seventeen years of fierce chieftaincy crisis.

Significantly, ‘The Pillar of Peace Award’ would be bestowed on the Asantehene to openly show to the world that indeed Otumfuo stands for peace, unity, development and national cohesion.

The special award ceremony would take place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on the night of Sunday, December 29, 2019. Significantly, the last ‘Akwasidae festival of the year also falls on the same day.

The organizers of the awards ceremony sees Otumfuo’s efforts in helping to restore peace, unity and development to the once-troubled Dagbon Kingdom as unprecedented, hence their decision to honour him.

Award Organizers

The awards are instituted under the distinguished patronage of CIPDH Africa in collaboration with E ON 3 Group, a Ghanaian Business Solutions Provider, which is based in the national capital of Accra.

Importantly, E ON 3 Group recently organized the ‘World-Meets-In-Ghana Investors Forum and Executive Dinner Ball that saw 31 embassies in Ghana participating in the event in Kumasi.

Other top groups such as GBSH Consult Group Worldwide, UAE-Africa Development Consortium, Future Africa Foundation, Novel Vision and State Enterprises Commission-Ghana are among the Implementing partners

Other awards

The organizers of the awards would also honour other illustrious Ghanaians who have in recent times played leading roles to accelerate national growth on the day but Otumfuo’s award would be a standout.

According to the event organizers, several hard working and patriotic Ghanaians, especially from the business sector, who have contributed to boost the Ghanaian economy would also be awarded.

All these came to light when the event organizers, led by Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, CEO of E ON 3 Group and His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Ambassador Tal Edgars, Executive Chairman GBSH Consult Group Worldwide, visited Otumfuo.

Otumfuo’s award explained

Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, briefing Otumfuo about the upcoming programme, said “Otumfuo what you have done at Dagbon beats human imagination and so you deserved to be honoured”.

He noted that the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis, which claimed precious human lives, destroyed properties and brought about abject poverty, initially seemed insurmountable.

Mr. Ofori Atta aka ‘Tom Tom’ stated that it required the wisdom and patience of Otumfuo and the other eminent chiefs before the feuding factions agreed to eventually smoke the peace pipe.

“Otumfuo you have been on the Golden Stool for 20 years and you have used 17 of those years to work tirelessly to restore peace and unity at Dagbon and such a feat needs to be honoured”, he said.

Otumfuo’s commemorative notes

Mr. Ofori Atta disclosed that plans are in the pipeline for his group to partner with a firm in Poland to manufacture special notes with the portrait of the Asantehene as part of the “Pillar of Peace Award” for Otumfuo.

Asante flag tour

He also said his group would be touring about the 20 countries across the globe with the beautiful yellow, black and green colours of Asanteman to create awareness about Otumfuo’s remarkable feat at Dagbon.

Ofori Atta mentioned the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), Dubai, Germany, Canada, Spain, France and Italy, just to mention a few, as some of the countries that the Asanteman flag would be taken to.

Otumfuo

The Asantehene expressed delight that the tireless efforts of himself and the rest of the Eminent Chiefs during the seventeen long years to restore total peace at Dagbon, had been recognized.

He stated that the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi would support E ON 3 Group and the rest of the event organizers in anyway possible to help make the African Premier Leadership Awards ceremony successful.
