Three unidentified young men reportedly interrupted an ongoing Eid-Fitr prayer service at Bole in the Savanna Region and made away with the Imam’s Staff of Authority as worshippers knelt in prayer.
Reports said the Muslims who were in prayer and became confused about the interruption fled for their lives living their mats, clothes and slippers on the prayer grounds.
Gunshots were heard at the scene but no injury was recorded.
There was tight security at the grounds with serious search on Muslims before they were allowed to enter the grounds.
Investigations are still ongoing with no arrest made so far.
It would be recalled that few days ago the chiefs and people of the Bole district in the Savanna Region appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider lifting the curfew imposed on them to allow businesses to thrive.
The chiefs, through the Savanna Regional Minister, Salifu Adam Brimah made the appeal to Vice-President Alhaji .Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia when he visited the region on Sunday, 2 June 2019 as part of his nationwide Ramadan tour.
The chiefs observed that there is relative peace in the area and pleaded with the government to consider reviewing the curfew hours so the people can continue their economic activities to enhance the socio-economic development of the district.
But unfortunately, this new incident is likely to cause a delay or denial of their request.
