The renowned Ghanaian scholar who works with the United Nation’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Dr Ivy Ntiamoah, has denied endorsing former President Mahama’s bid for the presidency in 2020.
In a conversation with our reporter Nana Owusu, the respected scholar said “I wish to state categorically that I have not issued a statement to that effect, neither have I instructed anyone to issue a statement to that effect to support John Mahama ”
Dr. Ntiamoah added “The object of the said malicious statement is only intended to create disaffection and destroy my reputation. I am a firm believer in the right side of politics and its ideas such as free market, property rights etc. I cannot support the left in Ghana’s politics “
She urged the discerning public to treat the statement that John Mahama needs a second chance to lead Ghana with the contempt it deserves.
Dr. Ivy opines that “On the contrary, if I were to advise the former president I would ask him to stay in retirement. He has seen it all and for me, it is time to say goodbye”. The scholar joins the scores of scholars who have counseled former President Mahama from contesting the Presidency again.
