Former president John Dramani Mahama is likely to withdraw from the National Democratic Congress flagbearer race if his favourite candidates lose at the national executive level.
The main opposition is electing its national executives today, November 17, 2018 at the Fantasy Dome in Trade Fair, Accra. About 9,000 delegates are expected to vote to fill top positions.
At a crunch and discreet meeting on the eve of the Congress in his house, a worried looking Mahama told his team in the presence of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, who is struggling in a bid to retain his position, and Joshua Akamba, who is eyeing the national organizer slot, he will throw in the towel if the duo and some names do not win.
“He told us to ensure that these people win else it will be difficult for him to return. We’ve been given bags containing cash to give to them to shore up their campaign at the grounds,” a source at the secret meeting disclosed.
