Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito has retained his position as the General Secretary of the main opposition party National Democratic Congress .
He beat his deputy Samuel Koku Anyidoho to keep his position.
Anyidoho polled just 1,625 votes after ballots were counted in an election in which over 9,000 delegates voted.
Asiedu Nketiah obtained 6,642 votes while 7 votes were rejected.
Asiedu Nketia had endured a barrage of accusation from some party bigwigs including the immediate past Central Region Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, who urged party delegates to vote him out.
According to Allotey , Asiedu Nketiah had turned himself into a mafia who is hindering the progress of the party ahead of general elections in 2020.
Koku Anyidoho and his NEHO meaning Uproot campaign team conceded defeat and left. He thanked the delegates and also gave thanks to God.
