A deputy national communications officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Kwaku Boahen, has described the aggrieved customers of MenzGold as idiots for falling prey to the scam birthed by Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly called NAM1.
Kwaku Boahen, contributing to a discussion on Asempa FM’s afternoon show, Ekosii Sen hosted by Philip Osei-Bonsu (O.B) on Friday, 26th July, 2019, the NDC top gun unsympathetically said that he would be an idiot to invest in an entity like MenzGold.
When the host asked him for his initial comments regarding the bail application granted by the court to NAM1 and what that means to the numerous customers who have been crying for him to be brought back to Ghana by the state, Mr. Boahen found it difficult to commiserate with the aggrieved customers of the defunct company and said
“I am too enlightened to invest in Menzgold”
I, Kwaku Boahen, l am not one of such gullible and greedy people” he stated.
His comments drew in concerns from Lawyer Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, one of the representatives of the ruling New Patriotic Party on the show.
Even after his attention had been drawn to the insensitive nature of his comments by Kokofu, Kwaku Boahen obstinately refused to apologise for such insentient comments.
It took the host of the programme to urge Kwaku Boahen to render an apology to listeners and the aggrieved customers who had been insulted by Kwaku Boahen to render a half-baked apology to them.
The NDC, during their recently held demonstration in Accra invited these same aggrieved customers of MenzGold to join them most of whom responded to the call.
It is strange that the deputy national communications officer of the same party would insult their intelligence in the manner that he did.
